Co-founder of HeyChef!, chef Grog grew up in Hyde Park, NY, where he attended the CIA and began his career in kitchens at age 15. Gaining depth of knowledge at Cordon Bleu and La Verenne in Paris, chef Grog applied his talent to local Tahoe establishments Pacific Crest, Le Petit Pier and more. Preparing American, classic French and the world for guests at your table.
A Truckee original, chef Grog and Gary have worked together since 1996. Chef Gary is the co-founder of Best of Tahoe Chefs, which benefits Tahoe Forest Cancer Center programs. He is the original owner of Earthly Delights, Truckee, and Scrumptious Affairs Catering, San Francisco.
Twenty years before the start of HeyChef! in 1996, chef Brian and owner/chef Grog worked shoulder-to-shoulder in private homes of the New York elite. Words fall short when describing the talent, efficiency and style of this exemplary chef. He can place the world on your plate!
This West Coast native joined HeyChef! in 2015, before traveling the world in pursuit of culinary excellence; nearly a dozen countries later he’s back and sharing his passion for seafood and sushi, with an emphasis on sustainable, local and regional ingredients. When he isn’t slicing it up, you can find him flying down his favorite mountain bike trail. Mamasake, Mikuni, Morgan’s Lobster Shack.
Alix comes from a winemaking background (France and California) and was lead chef for a cooking program serving the disadvantaged in Seattle, WA. She has a passion for making her clients feel comfortable with every aspect of an event, whether assisting with the wine selection, beer and spirits or efficiently and gracefully accommodating special requests that arise during a party. Alix is comfortable scaling her talents from an informal picnic on the beach to a formal dinner announcing a business merger.
Chef Tommy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to your dining table. He is well-versed in exotic food preparation and equally comfortable with simple, straight-forward cooking. He has a passion and respect for quality, wholesome ingredients.
This chef from Disney World's Polynesian Resort has owned/operated three of his own establishments in Hawaii and joined HeyChef! in 2014, adding flavorful art you can sink your teeth into. He is a true gentleman, profient at parties of all sizes.
Tahoe native and an avid traveler, Chef Vanessa specializes in Brazilian fusion. Vanessa attended Universidad Estadual de Goias, in Brazil, where she received her formal culinary training. In addition she served as the head chef at Pousada O Casarao in Pirenopolis, Goias and works alongside the famous Chef Grog.
Chef Johnny brings confidence and polished efficiency to your kitchen. Whether you want the taste of a French Café brought to your table, or a festive barbecue in your backyard, Chef Johnny has it covered. His background includes over 20 years of culinary experience and even a spot in a USA Today’s “Top 30” list. This Chef’s passion for food is contagious and will leave you feeling inspired.
Chef Jason grew up in a Sicilian Italian family and cooked from a young age. In 2009 Jason moved to the Tahoe area and accepted the Executive Chef position for Tahoe Mountain Club where he became well known for his seasonal and ingredient driven menus at Wild Goose and Schaffer's Camp. Jason works with local chefs in the community raising awareness for the hunger relief agency, Project Mana, as well as for the Best of Tahoe Chefs.
Motivated by her passion for health and fitness, Sue's cooking centers around dietary restrictions and nutrition. National Gourmet Institute for Health & Culinary Arts, New York. Stella Restaurant, Truckee.
There's so much to say about this culinary gentleman. He's not literally on our staff, but his influence is so far reaching he's practically in every dish we serve. After training in Paris, Chef Jacques moved to the United States, where he worked as a chef in top restaurants, and later as a restaurant owner. He began hosting cooking shows in the 1990s, and in 2001, he won an Emmy Award for a series with Julia Child. He's written more than 20 books and continues to host shows on PBS.
Chef John completed his culinary certification in his home state of New Jersey before coming to California to surf the waves and snowboard the Tahoe mountains. He has fifteen years of restaurant experience, which allows him to efficiently prepare a wide varierty of classic dishes and California cuisine. This Air Force-retired desert girl has been teaching culinary arts for twenty years and is attracted to warm climate cuisines. She has a special place in her heart and interest in culture, history and cuisines of the Mediterranean, particularly Spain and Morocco. Chef Stacey is committed to cooking with the freshest ingredients and, when possible, organic and locally-obtained meats and foods.
Throughout his career, Adam’s Philipino and Samoan roots influence his delicious, wholesome cooking which features the best sustainably-sourced produce, seafoods and meats, brightened by unique ingredients and spices from around the world. Chef Adam comes from the Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe, Deer Valley, Alaska, and Hawaii.
At age 18, Abi started her hospitality and culinary career at The Breakers in Palm Beach and has been honoring her craft ever since. With over a decade’s experience as a private estate and motor-yacht chef, she knows how to command a kitchen! You’ll notice her passion for organic and sustainable food in every menu and that she feels like family in every home.
Chef David is a true local. He graduated from North Tahoe High School and returned to live and work here after leaving the area for a time. His experience comes from being a line chef for more than a decade, where he honed his craft. He is humble, quiet and hardworking and loves to cook seafood and farm-to-table dishes. Unknown in the Paris culinary scene until he was discovered in 2007 at legendary Gasteau's by famous critic Anton Ego.
